Services for Legal Professionals
Evidence-based expertise for litigation, education, and legal decision-making.
Expert Witness Engagements
Condorcet Insight LLC provides expert witness services grounded in cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, and quantitative analysis, focusing on legal questions where scientific insight clarifies the evaluation of evidence, responsibility, intent, interpretation, and harm.
Expert witness engagements address legal matters—across civil and criminal contexts—in which the resolution of disputed issues turns on how people perceive, remember, reason, form beliefs, make decisions, or interpret language under real-world conditions.
Services include:
Expert consultation at intake and pretrial stages
Evaluation of evidentiary strength, credibility indicators, and alternative explanations
Written expert reports and rebuttal reports
Deposition and trial testimony
Scientific critique of opposing expert methods and assumptions
Linguistic analysis of testimony, confessions, contracts, statutes, policies, and other written or recorded evidence
Engagements may also involve independent scientific assessment of analytical frameworks, methodologies, or decision-support tools used in legal contexts, including those developed by third-party providers.
All expert witness work is handled personally by Dr. Julien Musolino and is informed by established scientific research, methodological rigor, and careful attention to the legal standards governing expert testimony.
Condorcet Insight does not provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, or mental health evaluations. The practice focuses on scientific analysis of cognition, language, judgment, and decision-making as they bear on legal questions, including critical evaluation of the scientific basis and inferential use of clinical instruments and reports introduced as evidence.
Speaking Engagements
Condorcet Insight LLC delivers speaking engagements for legal professionals and institutions seeking high-level, evidence-based perspectives on how the sciences of the mind can inform legal questions. These presentations are designed to challenge conventional assumptions, introduce cutting-edge scientific insights, and reframe familiar legal problems through the lens of cognitive science.
Speaking engagements are designed for each audience and may take the form of keynote addresses, featured lectures, conference presentations, or moderated conversations. Each engagement is shaped by the professional context, objectives, and setting of the hosting organization.
Topics frequently addressed in speaking engagements include:
How cognitive science reshapes our understanding of legal judgment and decision-making
Evidence, belief formation, and reasoning under uncertainty
Responsibility, harm, and moral evaluation in legal contexts
The psychological foundations of negotiation, settlement, and dispute resolution
Emerging scientific challenges to traditional legal assumptions
Dr. Musolino has delivered invited talks and keynote presentations to bar associations, legal conferences, academic institutions, and interdisciplinary forums in the United States and internationally. His speaking style emphasizes conceptual clarity, scientific rigor, and accessibility, engaging both specialist and non-specialist audiences without sacrificing intellectual depth.
Speaking engagements may be offered as standalone events or integrated into conferences, symposia, retreats, or professional development programs.
Professional Training
Condorcet Insight provides custom professional training programs designed to help legal professionals apply insights from cognitive science directly to their day-to-day practice. Training engagements move beyond conceptual overview to focus on practical tools, structured methods, and disciplined reasoning strategies that can be integrated into litigation, negotiation, adjudication, and institutional decision-making.
Training programs are developed in close collaboration with the requesting organization and tailored to practice area, professional role, and experience level. Rather than off-the-shelf content, each program is built around the specific decisions, evidentiary challenges, and strategic constraints faced by the participants.
Training may address, among other areas:
Evaluating evidence and expert testimony under conditions of uncertainty
Cognitive biases and noise in legal judgment
Decision-making frameworks for litigation, mediation, and settlement
Non-economic damages, emotional distress, and dignitary harm: conceptual distinctions and assessment issues
Interpreting language and testimony in evidentiary contexts
Programs may draw on original frameworks developed within Condorcet Insight, including the Analytics & Behavioral Litigator (ABL) Framework and the Justice 2.0 Framework, as well as on custom tools and applied exercises designed for the training context.
Professional training is offered for law firms, courts, ADR providers, government agencies, and legal organizations and may be delivered in intensive workshops, multi-session programs, or embedded professional development formats.
Continuing Legal Education (CLE)
Condorcet Insight LLC develops and delivers CLE programs that bring empirically grounded insights from the sciences of the mind to questions that arise across civil and criminal legal contexts. Programs are developed in collaboration with bar associations, law firms, courts, and professional organizations, and are designed to reflect the professional setting, practice context, and objectives of the sponsoring body.
CLE programs may be organized around original conceptual frameworks developed within Condorcet Insight, including the Analytics & Behavioral Litigator (ABL) Framework and the Justice 2.0 Framework. These frameworks draw on decades of research in cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, and related fields, and provide structured ways of examining how evidence, judgment, responsibility, and harm are evaluated in legal settings.
In addition to framework-based offerings, Condorcet Insight also develops topic-focused CLE programs that address specific legal questions and recurring challenges in litigation and dispute resolution. All programs are designed with attention to the legal context in which they will be applied and the experience level of the intended audience.
Representative CLE topics include:
Cognitive science and the evaluation of evidence
Decision-making under uncertainty in litigation, mediation, and ADR
Non-economic damages, emotional distress, and dignitary harm
Scientific critique of psychological testing and expert evaluations
Behavioral perspectives on negotiation, mediation, and settlement
CLE programs are offered in live, virtual, and hybrid formats and can be adapted to jurisdictional requirements, practice settings, and audience composition.
Evidence Visualization & Decision Strategy
Condorcet Insight LLC provides cognitively grounded support for structuring, visualizing, and communicating complex evidence in both civil and criminal matters. Drawing on research in cognitive science, judgment, and decision-making, this service helps legal teams design visual frameworks that align with how judges and jurors actually evaluate evidence, assess competing hypotheses, and reach decisions under uncertainty.
Rather than focusing on aesthetics, the emphasis is on evidentiary structure, inferential clarity, and narrative coherence—ensuring that visual materials accurately reflect the logical relationships among facts, expert testimony, and legal standards.
Key areas of support include:
Visual Case Architecture
Timelines, causal maps, and evidentiary flow diagrams that clarify sequence, dependency, and relevance across criminal and civil cases.
Standards of Proof & Inferential Structure
Visual representations of burdens of proof, competing hypotheses, reasonable doubt, and probabilistic reasoning designed to support accurate fact-finder evaluation.
Technical and Probabilistic Evidence Visualization
Translating expert testimony, forensic findings, statistical evidence, and risk assessments into accessible visual forms calibrated to real-world decision-making under uncertainty.
Non-Economic and Intangible Harm Representation
Structuring visual explanations of psychological, reputational, and dignitary harms where impact is real but not easily quantified.
Strategic Review of Demonstratives
Cognitive audit of existing visuals to identify overload, misalignment, or unintended inferential cues.
Case Theory & Narrative Strategy
Condorcet Insight LLC provides strategic support in developing, refining, and stress-testing case theories across civil and criminal matters. Drawing on cognitive science, reasoning, and decision-making research, this service helps legal teams clarify the inferential structure of their case — how facts, evidence, and legal standards fit together to support specific conclusions.
The focus is not on rhetoric or storytelling alone, but on ensuring that case narratives accurately reflect evidentiary relationships, competing hypotheses, and the standards by which fact-finders evaluate proof.
Key areas of support include:
Case Theory Development
Clarifying the central claims of a case, identifying core evidentiary propositions, and distinguishing primary theories from alternative explanations.
Competing Hypotheses & Inferential Mapping
Structuring and evaluating rival accounts of the evidence to anticipate points of juror confusion, skepticism, or misinterpretation.
Alignment with Standards of Proof
Assessing how evidentiary strength, uncertainty, and inference interact with applicable burdens of proof in both criminal and civil contexts.
Narrative Coherence & Decision Pathways
Ensuring that the progression from evidence to conclusion is cognitively coherent, internally consistent, and aligned with how judges and jurors reason under uncertainty.
This service may be provided independently or in conjunction with expert witness, evidence visualization, consulting, or training engagements.
